Anyone got their Kobo Aura One online at WH Smiths?

I was thinking about ordering an Aura One from WH Smiths to see what it was like, knowing it only came out a few days ago. Going to their site it says 1-2 days https://www.whsmith.co.uk/search/go?af=&w=kobo+aura+one

If you click the Aura One thumbnail to go to the product page it says 1-2 Weeks. Wondering which one is correct? Has anyone ordered and received an estimated delivery? Seems strange that the thumbnail and product page differ in delivery/waiting stock time.

Tried contacting them but waiting for a response.

I ordered mine on 5th Sept. At the time it said 1-2 weeks on the product page. As far as the WHSmith website is concerned my order's still sitting there as 'Ordered' no sign of it moving to 'Despatched'. My guess is that WHS haven't actually received any devices yet.

FWIW I've ordered Kobos from them before and never had any problems with delivery once they were actually in stock.

Thanks Jackie! I was tempted to order direct from Kobo Store but there seems to be a lot of people with similar issues where they place an order and no mention of when it will ship and a week has gone by for many. Also not sure if Kobo are shipping from Canada to UK or if they have UK stock they are sending out in the UK.

I was hoping WH Smith might better but it seems like they probably don't have stock then and the 1-2 weeks is most likely more reliable than 1-2 days .

I did think about checking with my local WH Smith stores but the only way to check stock according to their website is to physically phone each store or go there in person :-|

I see Kobo store now says available 16th September so probably they had very small amounts of stock initially.

Thanks! Hopefully WH Smiths get some in sooner but it sounds like it might be a good few weeks wait. I did check out the Where To Buy on Kobo Store but the only UK retailer that has any listed is WH Smiths.

Mine says the same, still pending. I did ask in my local store on the 6th but they had no idea there was even a new one out so I'm not holding out much hope for a fast store release. The Holborn one has even reduced the space allocated to the Kobos so I think online is more reliable.

The reason I went for Smiths myself was due to easier tracking of the order to be honest as I've ordered from Kobo before too.

No, they have the Glo HD and H2O, same with all the other UK retailers, nobody else lists the Aura One HD yet other than WH Smiths. I even checked Amazon, two companies are selling it third party for £233 and £243 respectively vs the £189.99 RRP, and they list 3-4 days stock. Hoping Amazon might get it in but I doubt it for a while.

That's interesting, I know Kobo's are usually a pretty good seller in WH Smiths, surprising Holborn reduced sales space but then I guess what sells in one store doesn't necessarily sell in another store.

If you order online at WHSmith and you want to return or exchange your order, can you do it in a local store?

I rang two WH Smith stores in my area - both were very helpful and totally unaware that there were new devices out. Both said that they had dispensed with their sales tables where you could see and play with the Kobo's. Unasked, they also checked their paperwork to see if 'signage'/promotional banners etc had been ordered for the ONE and they hadn't. Both concluded that they doubted they would be stocking the ONE in store, at least for now.

Hi Willa, yeah I thought that would be the case by ringing the stores. Mostly store staff really don't know anything about anything unless it's actually there in the store. Usually they are the last to know .

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if they appeared in store, high priced gadgets tend to be online more in stores like this. I thought Tesco's would have added it though, they seem to sell a lot of Kobo's on Tesco's Direct, not sure about in-store though.

I guess we probably have the answer that it's going to be at least 2 weeks probably longer before they appear and are available for sale. I wonder whether it would be worth ordering direct from Kobo but so far I don't like the sound of their ordering system. Once you've ordered you get complete dead air and no updates at all about the order.

You can order from Chapters and they will send to the UK. With the exchange rate, you are paying less than ordering direct from Kobo. Last time I looked, you were saving about £30. Chapters charges in CAD and with the exchange rate, you save.

The problem is you may well be hit by 20% VAT coming into the country plus customs fees, otherwise I'd have already ordered
