Error sending metadata to device
Calibre version: 2.68
Device: Kobo Aura ONE, running the current latest firmware 4.0.7523. Driver: Kobo Touch Extended plugin/driver While removing and adding some books to the reader, I got an error during "Sending Metadata To Device": Code:
'apsw.Connection' object has no attribute 'commit' Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 87, in run File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 533, in _sync_booklists File "calibre_plugins.kobotouch_extended.device.driver", line 396, in sync_booklists AttributeError: 'apsw.Connection' object has no attribute 'commit' I received this error one single time during the removal of some books. The books were removed correctly, as far as I've been able to see. I've also added several books, and had no problems. To test, I've removed some books and then added them again, again without problems. Up until now, this error was a one-off, but I thought reporting it may be of use to possibly fix a problem before it causes damage (if there is a real problem at al, that is). |

It is reported in the extended device thread. It looks like it only happens when you are sending a big batch of books to the Kobo (it has happened to me too), but no further damage.

Yes, I've been adding a few series in collections, so I have some more material to choose from when I finish a book, so I have been adding stacks of 10+ books to the device.
(I wonder if I should add my entire library.... To be honest, I'm a bit afraid to lose the device. While I can get over losing the reader itself, I wouldn't want to put about almost 800 un-drm-ed books into the wild.) Last edited by Katsunami; 09-17-2016 at 12:27 PM. |

I think I have no problem with it: 500 un-drm-ed book in the Spanish wild... in English, I think they are not going to be very loved

Well, reading English, especially fantasy, is probably a bigger thing in the Netherlands than it is in Spain...

The imageId is usually missing for book formats that don't have a format. TXT is the usual one I see. But, it is also not created if a kepub doesn't contain a cover. The extended driver is fixing this so that if a cover is sent separately, it will be used. |

I suspect it is because Amazon has less of a stranglehold on the ebook market in European countries. So there is a larger diversity of ebook sources and reading devices, which makes calibre useful to more people.

At 50 books or so, calibre becomes very useful, except if you're someone who buys a book at the time they want to read it, then read it, and then abandon it, not caring what happens to it. If you use multiple sources and formats for e-books, the program in combination with Alf is indispensable if you don't want to go crazy.
