Program has stopped uploading images
For some reason my Calibre program has simply stopped uploading images. It will upload an image for the cover, but all the images in any Libre file I create simply do not appear in the created e-pub. A space where they should be appears. Also if I put a boarder around the image, the boarder appears. But it is empty. I tried jpg and png files of various sizes. All this worked hundreds of times before. The only thing I can think that I may have done differently is that I updated it.

@jedson303 - your problem maybe due to the changes in latest release, see ==>> calibre - What's new

You can downgrade to 2.66 by uninstalling 2.67 and reinstalling 2.66, previous versions are here ==>> Previous calibre releases
You will NOT lose libraries or settings by downgrading. But wait a while, Kovid will probably be around in a bit and he may have better suggestions. Assuming a Libre file is an ODT file from Libre office, you could try saving as DOCX and converting that, I've converted DOCX's on 2.67 with no problems, but they are not image intensive. BR |

more info
I did a test file to see more or less systematically what was happening. (Content-wise the file is nonsense.)
General: I use Libre and odt files. I used only jpg files with the ext written as JPEG. Also everything was done in 72ppi resolution. Results with three pictures: 1st one. Only the space appeared, where the picture should have been. 2nd one. Used a big 1152 X 892px file, which I reduced to a width of 6 inches, using no-wrap. Picture did appear with hint of the border at the bottom. Did not expand to original size (or even to the 8.5 X ll version that seems to be automatically produced) when I pressed “view image.” 3rd one. 768X450 px in the original. I reduced it to 3X4 inches. The picture appeared, but without the border. It did enlarge when I hit “view image.” The conversion log showed no details. Am attaching the output -epub file. Also ran the bug files. You should be able to get them with this link: /home/jedson/Pictures/e-pub_test_images . Hope this isn't too much. j |

Yes. Tried that. The photo that did not come up before, appeared. But then all the borders disappeared. I am not using frames to make the borders. Tried that and it didn't work. When there is an image in Libre, you right click it, and one of the options is "image." You can adjust the inage for size, position, wrap, and borders, etc. there. i use that.
If this is not happening with other people, there must be something I am doing wrong, or something that is wrong with the programs I am using. But Gimp, Libre and Calibre are the only ones I am using for making e-books. They are pretty standard. I'm at a loss. |

Here is what I need to do.
I have attached one of my experimental files in doc format. (I changed it from docx in order to upload it.) Calibre does strip off the borders, but it uploads the image with the proper size and position. (Interestingly, it strips the borders off the input file too, when I upload it to Calibre.) Uploading from the odt would get the borders, but sometimes (erratically it seemed) would not include the image itself. So I guess what I need to do is create the input file as a doc file and embed the outline as well as the caption in the image itself. That would work.

DOC and DOCX are entirely different internally. The DOC format is not supported in the calibre core, there is an optional Conversion Input plugin.
If you can't upload something put it into a ZIP file and attach that. |

file uploaded
Got that file that i use as the input file to upload this time. It may be that I just have to make my borders in Gimp. But if I could create my input file in Libre, save it as a docx, and have it upload both the borders and the images from there, it is easier, and creates better borders, than using Gimp.

I opened the attached docx file in Word 2007 and I see no borders on the images.

Yes. That's the problem. But now I see that it is not an issue with Calibre. If I put boundaries around a picture with Libre, and save it (as docx or odt), when I open it, the boundaries will have disappeared. That is true whether I run it through Calibre or not. So it appears that, at least using Libre, there is not way to get boundaries in without embedding them right in the image (like with Gimp.) Is that true?
