Lost reading position... twice

This is only as bug report.

I'm not using Marvin 3 with much frequency, but in my iPhone 6S+ has lost twice the reading position.

One lost opsition ended with the ebook at start page and saw in other devices as 0% position.

Second didn't uploaded the position but locally didn't lost the reading position.

Both times happened when switching off iPhone screen with Marvin in foreground.

Kguil, I think this happens when book is in scroll mode. It happened another more time in scroll mode. It lost the position but went to the position saved before.

Speaking of losing one's place, am I the only one losing reading location when flipping from portrait to landscape mode? This happens consistently, and the shift in location can be several screens. I've checked with every update, and it's still happening in 3.0.7.

This happens to me too. It seems does not loses the position, but goes to a previous position, normally one page ro so.

It happens when changing font or font size. Instead of been locked in the first letter of the current page, it goes back anda back on each font change.

BTW, the problems with the position happens always, and happens more if you switch off the screen with the program in foreground. If you give time to iOS to send back the app, when you return to it, reading position is in the precedent saved position or even at chapter start. This only happens in scroll mode.

Currently I'm went back to Kindle App, and I'm making eyes to Hyphen... 1.2 seems sync across devices not only position but all the library like Fiction Book Reader (in Windows) does. And Goodreads integration is another Hyphen feature I like a lot.

This sounds weird. I haven't experience it yet, though I have experienced similar loss of reading position issues in other circumstances, even with one device without doing any sync.

So far I haven't found this kind of bugs on MapleRead and Hyphen, both Marvin competitors with developers actively answering questions on MobileRead forums.

From Maplie, I seriously dislike the sync system, that goes into their servers and is a thing I really cannot understand.

But I like a lot the way it present the text.

However I finally end with my Kindle, that has sync across devices and platforms and never failed me.

Well, sync has to be stored at a common site so that all devices can find it. I suppose that could be another cloud account than the vendor's. But it will be out there somewhere. Doing it as you describe is the least hassle for his customers.

Marvin (and Hyphen) sync through iCloud. Since many (most?) iOS users already have an iCloud account, this seems preferable to having to register a new account with the developer.

(That said, there are many things I like about MapleRead. Syncing is the only drawback for me.)

I wouldn't call it that all bad. Icloud will see what you read and try to market to your preference. Hopefully and without knowing their disclosure, Maple isn't as aggressive. And they don't have your credit card tied to it.

I believe I ran into the same problem as rfog yesterday and I do think it may be related to vertical scrolling. I don't normally use this feature but I do occasionally use it in conjuction with text-to-speech.

Marvin _was_ updating the sync file according to the timestamp but the value was stuck at 15% most of the day even though I was more than halfway through the book and back in paginated mode. I believe closing Marvin completly fixed the problem for me.

False. Apple does not even have access to iCloud data stores, so they can't mine the data even if they wanted to.
