If you have a question about the Kobo, please ask it in the Kobo forum. I am now moving this message to that forum.

You're not seeing a change on ANY part of the screen? If so try putting it on charge for a couple of hours (preferably a wall charger rather than via USB). If you have to use a computer try a different USB port and different USB cord if this doesn't initially work. With e-ink when it runs out of power whatever was last on the screen stays there.
Does what's on the screen look normal or is there part of it that's different to rest? This could suggest a broken screen substrate (post a pic here and we can likely tell). Try connecting it to your computer via USB and see if it is detected (just to make sure it isn't completely dead) |

That's an absolutely classic picture of a broken screen substrate. You've broken the thin layer of glass that's underneath the outer screen of the device, I'm afraid. You can see the line of the fracture running diagonally across your photograph.

There is no doubt about it whatsoever. The picture is conclusive.

Yep, gotta agree with Harry and frostschutz. That's definitely a broken screen. Often caused by twisting of the device in a bag or something but could be direct impact at some point too. Breakage may not occur at the same time as the stress to the screen, but can happen later.

While the latest update to Windows 10 broke the ability to see the internal storage on your Kobo ereader, the photo you posted with that curved line is a classic example of a cracked screen substrate.

Broken screen substrate is common enough should have collection of pictures some place with nothing but pictures of broken screens. Wonder how many have been posted here? It would probably only be like raising a 2 year old child telling them not to do that you will break it.

It's not just Kobo, most brands of Readers have shown up on MR with a broken screen.
