What does send to device do?

Hi I want to know if I send to device set as default, does the file not get stored on my laptop drive?

There is NO SAVE to get books into the Library. Adding, Adds using the Metadata detected (per setting) to file the book. Very few places have a Cancel button. A Add/Change/delete is Changed as soon as the form is exited, if not immediately (delete format in the MDE is NOW)


Send to device is for Sending a Updated (metadata) COPY to an external device. The book in the Library remains unchanged.

Save to disk is for Sending to those devices (including mass storage) that are not recognized by Calibre as a specific (Mfgrs family) device. The User must supply the smarts (configure supported formats)

Save to Folder treats a Local Attached Storage (for devices that allow Sneaker net) as a Device . I have a SD card that I use in my PEz with a broken USB data line. Perfect.
You may NOT use any of these to change book WITHIN the Library Folder
