moving old Calibre files to a newer version of Calibre
I had an older version of Calibre (.8) running on Ubuntu 10.04, PC died managed to save Library folder, but now I can't seem to get any of the files into the new version of Calibre (2.55) short of using the "add books" button. Sorry if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find if it is
Thanks Steve |

With the newer versions, this will be even simpler. There is a item on the Library icon menu. (the old way still works) |

Believe me, it works if you follow the directions
by any chance did you have you backup on CD/DVD? Those make the files read only. All you have to do is change the properties of the Library folder (the one on the HD) to remove the Read only flag for it AND all the children folders

How about some details - like an error message, or the new install didn't find the library, or the computer fell off the desk.
If that version 2.55 you have is from a Linux distro, I suggest you install the latest official version from the calibre site ==>> Download calibre Distro versions are sometimes problematic. BR |
