How Wonderfully Useless
![]() Still nice to see someone hacking away at something like this, as I am completely useless at coding. Keep up the good work |

Okay, playing videos is worth a giggle, yes.
But TCPMP is also a multi format _audio_ player. The version he is running here can support: - Mpeg 1 Layer III - Ogg Vorbis - Musepack - Windows Media Audio (on Windows Mobile devices) - AC-3 - AMR - Adpcm, uLaw (from here) |

How is the refresh rate? Is the video watchable at all?

Just for fun ! ha ha ha..
It depends, like I say, Koreans are studying the EnglisH(especially, spoken Eng) by watching movies and dramas as usual. So,Actually it is useful to learn English,I guess. and I tested TCPMP ver. 0.81RC (modified). I heard that B60's refreshing screen-cycle is possible to cut short about 30%,sooner or later. It's good news. As you know,TCPMP is multimedia open - tool. For music....from mp3 to ape.(flac.wave) For movie...Nate the great mentioned lots of things above. Like I say..... It is a pastime. ^_^;; |

I was referring to the Video Playback, when making the comment, But you're right, i didn't think about the other Media playback capabilities of TCPMP.
Getting it to play something other then the standard mp3's is an achievement that has to be applauded. By the way does TCPMP natively support mp4 / h.264 ? and if it does, is the soribook able to deal with it? H.264 is a bit of a system hog at least when video decoding is concerned, not so sure about the audio only version of it. |

bbusybookworm :
First of all,Thanks for your consideration. Here is B60 Chip-Data sheet.... http://www.freescale.com/files/32bit...X31.pdf?fpsp=1 And Of course,H.264 is not applicable. As you know,Basically Soribook B60 is just a E-INK reader on wince5.0 core. Movie-play is not a main Function. It's just additional usage. Maybe,Some Codecs are not freeware. But I don't care... I just wondered that Soribook B60 had other DSP on board. But I think, that is not persuasive to me. Definitely, DSP is unnecessary to B60. In spec, Only Mp3 in playable. With the help of OpenSourced-tools (ex- TCPMP,Gsplayer,MortPlayer,WinampCE etc),B60 can play other music formats. |

Anyway...Still I'm trying to experiment many PPC-Utilities.(Pocket PC...etc..Especially E-Book readers..) Finally..I matched up...Ms-reader(display on Soribook) with some PPC-dlls(compatible). and I tried DJVU-format reader(for PPC). Here are some photo-shots.. |

Looking Nice.
How's the device's response to the additional app. i.e. Does it slow down very noticably, or not that much? And I've been curious about the language support that comes built in. Is it Korean and english only? or does it support any font like the gen3? Being Windows CE I know that other languages can be added, but what comes right out of the box? |

The main delay right now is the screen refresh. They're working on it.
They are planning to release an English language firmware, just not yet. They're still working on the Korean language one. But I was told that if they received an order from the US, they would make the English language firmware a priority. |
