Update-Lighted case for Kindle 7th gen (touch)-Update
I have been away from the forum for a long time I have been teaching myself fingerstyle guitar), but yesterday I found a great deal on a Kindle 7th gen on amazon and I went for it. I wanted a simple ereader and the Touch seemed to fit the bill. Especially at $33.
Can someone recommend a good lighted case for this version of Kindle for me please? I love the Omoton case and it would be perfect if it had a light and it will be the one I buy if I can't find a decent lighted case. Update - Call me crazy, but I found a deal on a used Paperwhite that someone bought and never used. $30 less than a new one, so I bought it. Last edited by 357mag; 07-17-2016 at 10:38 PM. I haven't seen a lighted cover for this Kindle or heard anything about one. I just googled and didn't find anything. I think if you wanted a light you probably should have gotten a Paperwhite. They're equally simple. In fact their software is identical with the exception of the Voice over. Each has one physical button. Everything about the interface is the same. It just costs more and has a light.

Thanks for the reply. I got the KIndle touch at a great deal and I really only need a simple e reader. The paperwhite would cost me 4x what I paid for the touch.
I can live without the light. |

I am still using the K4NT, and still loving it. I have an mEdge cover and an mEdge light. Depending on your cover you could probably just slip the light between the cover and the reader. I found the mEdge light at both Ollie's and Big Lots for around the $3 mark. The light uses AAA batteries. I just have recharable batteries that I switch out as they die.
Oh, I found the cover on Ebay a while ago for $10. I have no idea if they are still available or not. Enjoy your reader! S |

One solution might be to use any case and a strip light like the one linked to below. I bought one of those a couple years ago for one of my neighbors. It wasn't this particular one but one pretty much like it. It worked really well. She uses a Kindle 4 and it fits nicely between the case and the Kindle and bends down into a nice position for reading. I'm not sure how long the batteries last.

Before I started using lighted Kindles I used a number of different kinds of lights including a lighted cover. I think this looked better than any that I used. I didn't actually read much with it. I just tried it out with a paragraph or two but it was fine.
It uses hearing aid type batteries and you can get those pretty cheap on Amazon if you buy a package of them. I can't imagine it would be very expensive to use although I don't actually know that. Barry |
