Marvin 3.0.3 is out
Here’s what’s new and updated in v3.0.3:
(*) You’ll also need to update Marvin Classic to 2.9.1. If you have a moment, please remember to rate and review Marvin. It really helps a lot. Thanks! |

Can you please implement a method for specifying the colours in themes by hexadecimal or RGB? I would like to make my night theme with background of 80% black (R51, G51, B51 or #333333) with white text, but I can't seem to find a way to get this colour for my background.

I would like to report a following problems with "overwriting" book feature:
1) I have a book on Dropbox. 2) I downloaded the book to Marvin's Library. 3) I changed a couple of things in that book. 4) I download the book one more time. 5) Marvin asked me that the book is in my library, did I want to overwrite it. 6) I confirmed overwriting. 7) Second copy of that book appears in Library. No overwriting was performed. 8) I deleted one copy of that book from Marvin's Library 10) During opening a remaining copy of the book a message says: "Oops. This book couldn't be opened because it is damages or encrypted" |

@kguil:
![]() Is there a way to limit the Brightness settings to the app only, so that changing the brightness in-app doesn't change it for the entire device? I could not find such a switch in all the settings, but there are so many I may have missed it. Thanks! |

@odamizu I'm afraid that iOS doesn't let you do that. Technically, there is a workaround but it hurts battery life so I decided against it. If you want brightness to be darker when you're in a book, your best bet is to turn on extra dimming for that colour preset.

Also, not sure if this is new for 3.0.3, but I'm finding that when I switch from Landscape to Portrait or vice versa, the page location shifts dramatically and I totally lose my place. For example, this morning I was at page 222 of 482 (46% overall) in portrait mode, but when flipped to landscape mode, it put me at page 207 of 482 (43% overall). |

I do not mean to undermine odamizu's brightness request. it's totally reasonable (if possible) and I'd wholeheartedly support having the option.
However, I feel compelled to note that I like the brightness control the way it is. First off, hardware brightness is a must for me, so if that is at all related to the issue being discussed, I'm chiming in strongly against a change. Second, I like being able to use Marvin to temporarily increase the brightness for all apps, with the brightness returning to the default when the device locks. For me, that's a valued bonus feature in Marvin. |

@odamizu Yes I am. The only way to make brightness work only within an app is to overlay a translucent black layer on top of everything. This means that while the app will *appear* to be dimmer, the device will still be operating at full brightness, hence using up more battery life. There are other colour shifting, and user confusion issues that must be considered.
Regarding your second point - that's the way Apple designed iOS to work. Every app that allows for the control of hardware brightness will do that. You'll find this documented in Apple docs. Last edited by kguil; 07-08-2016 at 06:44 AM. Reason: Typo |
