Book jacket with conditional metadata?
Is there any way to use user-defined metadata (user defined columns etc.) within the book jacket - but only if certain conditions are given?
Example: I have created a column with series-like information describing the year the Hugo Award was given for the best SF novel. So the column name is "Hugo Award" and the series-like information is the year. I managed to modify the book jacket template and it works just fine. BUT: Not all my books are SF books. Is there any way to prevent i.e. historical novels having this information included in the book jacket? |

Generic Book Awards
@Grins:
As an alternative design, the "Book Awards" section of this post may be of interest to you: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=261712 One of its attachments has a table of 4,532 books with each book's multiple awards, and ready to be imported into Calibre. See the attached example for Larry Niven. If it is worth it to you, with a little extra work you could append the year of the award to the award name. Or not. DaltonST |

@ DaltonST: Thank you for that suggestion! Looks like a comfortable way if you don't already have the awards information and want to collect them in some easy manner. Nice!
Actually I am looking for a way / procedure / programming example to include various metadata into the book jacket using conditionally expression like "if .... then ... else endif". Any suggestions to that? |

I would assume the book jacket does not include elements for columns that are empty.
Presumably the SF Hugo Award column has only been filled in for SF books? |
