This is the first update to Marvin 3 with many new and exciting features on the way. Here’s what’s new today:
  • New: ‘Read books’ and 'Unread books’ shortcuts in iPad quick launch panel.
  • New: You can send a zip file (with a “.marvinz” extension) containing TTF and OTF files, and Marvin will copy them to your documents directory ready to be registered as custom fonts.
  • New: “Apply to all opened books” option in Aa formatting menu.
  • Updated: Custom fonts section in Aa menu has been moved to the top of the list.
  • Updated: Current sort is marked in iPad quick launch panel.
  • Updated: Current colour scheme is marked in iPad quick launch panel.
  • Updated: Current collection is marked in iPad quick launch panel.
  • Updated: Readability is improved in 'Silver’ colour scheme.
  • Other minor fixes and refinements.
If you have a moment, please remember to rate and review Marvin. It really helps a lot.

Happy reading!

It appears that new colour themes have been added – great! I'd welcome a predominantly red theme, if it could be added later on. The new "Comet" theme looks like it might be reddish, but it really isn't, although it's nice as well.

The extra colour themes have been available since 3.0 (not in the beta)

From what you said earlier, I had thought it might come as an option; I'd prefer it as a preference. Indeed, there is great variation in ePub settings, yet if we were to assume base font size was always 100%, or small as per numerous publishers, or someone tended to get books from a particular source if they were designed as such, that and other settings, I imagine one would want to adjust once, and have it be the same for all past and future opened books, as with font choice, margin, etc. As far as I know, such settings in most eReaders are global and set once, and Marvin having them per book is perhaps among exceptions.

Yes, but it's a laudable exception and one of the things that make Marvin smart. Whatever is done, please also keep the current way of operation. Offering those global defaults as an optional alternative is fine, but please also retain the current mode of operation for those who appreciate it.

For the record, such kind of "per book" layout settings was first available on a reader app called "ShuBook", introduced in 2010, way before Marvin was born.

ShuBook was once very popular after the demise of Stanza. Note that Marvin Classic appears in the list of "Customers Also Bought" on ShuBook's App Store page.
