The Black Hood Gang by the late British author S. J. Bounds (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE) is his vintage standalone historical western action adventure novel, this one starring a another man on a mission of family vengeance (sometimes I think they pair these thematically), this one against the scoundrel who seduced and was responsible for the death of his sister, only to find it interrupted by his own rescue of a woman and town menaced by an outlaw gang, whom he finds himself on a commission to get rid of, making himself a target for the gang and framed for murder besides, but fortunately maybe finding a clue towards his original quest, as you do, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1953 by Fiction House under the title Vengeance Valley using the pseudonym Wes Sanders and was later reprinted by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Roger Carne.

Description
A man on a mission…

For seven years Lance Borden has hunted the west for a man missing the little finger from his left hand.

The man who seduced his sister then abandoned her, causing her to commit suicide.

But his quest is interrupted when he rescues the beautiful Joan Winsor from members of the Black Hoods gang, gunning one of them down in the process.
