Refresh jailbreak...
Hey all,
Probably stupid question, due mostly to the fact I know almost nothing of the new 5.6.5 closed jailbreak for Kindles... I was here, updating Niluje's jailbreak to the latest nightly build before updating fw from 5.7.3 to 5.7.4 - btw, everything went fine - while I thought this: I have no problems because I have a relatively old kindle and I have always used Niluje's hack... so now, before I update my kindle I can first wait for the daring ones to confirm that the jb survives the update, then refresh my jb and update myself. But what for people who bought their kindles already at fw 5.6.5 and had to use the other method to jailbreak? That method, if I understand, that required them to go visit a special web page with their kindle browser... Now, if they want to update their jailbreaks, what are they gonna do? Can they use latest Niluje's jb, or are they in a separate, parallel track forever and ever? |

The 5.6.5 JB *requires* users to install 'my' JB hotfix to get things fully up & running, so, nothing to worry about

Oh! So that new method was just a way to make your jb pass through!
Then after the kindles are unlocked, you simply refresh jb using the *_update_*.bin package and mrpi installer... Understood. Thanks! |

You do not install the the 'hotfix' package with MrPI - MrPi is a KUAL extension - And KUAL can not be run without parts of the 'hotfix' package that is being installed. Just follow the directions as quoted above and you will be alright, even if you do not need the 'hotfix' package contents. Just do it. Last edited by knc1; 05-30-2016 at 05:05 AM. |
