Why do I get these odd characters
Please see attached. This is from the Pocket recipe, but I've seen them in others.
In calibre's viewer I see this Peopleâs Minds Something with page encoding? |

I see odd characters like that from any recipe that downloads RSS feeds. I'm sure the characters were originally smart quotes or the like.
The annoying part is that they show up wrong in the article excerpts portion, and show up fine in the actual article. So, if there's a missing/wrong code page, it's in the portion that builds the inline TOC and excerpts. |
