Auto-complete of HTML-Tags on Return
Hello,
Actual I Test the newer Sigil-Version without the Book-View-Feature. The Book-View is a fine thing and can be added by PageEdit. So far so good. But if i use Sigil pure and I will modify a small change the I will use Sigil pure. But I I need to add a new Line and press the Enter button to split the line in two lines. It would be done only in the Source-Code and not in the Book/HTML itself. Because there are no new set of closing and opening Tags are generated. I expect in such a HTML-Editor that the old line will automatically closed by an Ending Tag and the new line started with a opening tag. But it do it not. Also i i press at the end of a line (after the closing-Tag) the enter-Key a Empty Line with no effect in the Book will be added. I must add the opening- and closing-Tag manually. And this make the usage of the pure-Editor bad. In the old BookView and also in the new PageEdit the correct tags are automatically generated. Is it possible to get such a feature in Sigils Editor? Regards, Oliver |

You can already get Sigil to inject end tags (check out the Sigil menus). Direct html editing is direct html editing. If you want to edit in PageEdit then do so. But be prepared to fix up the generated html to make good code.
Also feel free to use Sigil's "open with" capability to use the html editor of your choice. Please note: neither old or New Sigil / PageEditare meant to write your book with. That should be done with a real word processor (like LibreOffice or Word) and the resulting html imported via a plugin into Sigil for cleanup, adding special features, building the toc, etc. PageEfit itself is meant for proof-reading and small editing. So use a real wordprocessor to create your book content before using Sigil. Last edited by KevinH; 06-23-2023 at 05:51 PM. |

You might want to download the Sigil User Guide and check out the Clip Editor and Clip Bar chapters. You could create clips for inserting </p><p> tags or wrapping lines in <p></p> tags. You can also access clips via the Clip Bar.
