Calibre shortcuts

'Sup guys. Calibre is awesome. I use it all the time.

In some menus, though, some letters are underlined, seemingly marking them as shortcuts. As an example, see this image. It is under "saved searches" in "Edit book".
Now, I can't seem to access this shortcut. Is there a modifier key I'm missing, or is it simply not working? I hate moving my mouse around if I can avoid it.

Hope someone else knows about this. I couldn't find anything in the documentation (except on general Calibre shortcuts)

Have a nice day.

Those are accelerator keys, they work by pressing the Alt+underlined key. However, if there are more than one such key on the current screen, then the shortcut simply toggles focus between them and you have to press enter.

I already tested that. Alt+D just makes ∂ on my Mac.

Probably it would work fine on a PC.

They do, but on a high-res monitor it is often very hard to see which control, particularly buttons, has keyboard focus, this is because they're highlighted with a skinny one pixie wide pale blue border - IIRC that's a Qt 'thing'.

I've also noticed the button accelerator keys only navigate to the button, they don't press them, you have to hit space. In many Windows applications if a button has a unique accelerator key, then when used it navigates to and pushes the button - and of course the current control has a fatter and darker blue highlight border. I don't use a Mac often enough to notice these 'little things'

Apple does not allow accelerator keys, dont ask me why, so they only work on linux/windows.

Perhaps because Mac users are supposed to do everything with a one button mouse

Can you use Tab and Arrow keys to navigate through the controls on a Mac? Although one problem with doing that in Windows is that you can tab into the code window and start entering tabs into the code.

You don't need a Keyboard on a MAC. Remember Scotty in one of the Star Trek movies?

No I don't - only went to one ST movie, slept though most of it. Read the scripts of a couple, don't recall which ones.
