Test email not working

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me figure out why i can't even send a test email to myself, let alone an ebook.

This is the error message from trying the test email:

IOError: Failed to send mail: error(65, 'No route to host')
Which is essentially the same error i get when I try to send an ebook.
I'm fairly certain the problem is within calibre because I can ping imap.gmail.com fine from my terminal and even connect to it via telnet.

I'm using the most recent version of calibre and Mac OS X 10.8.5.

I tried searching for other posts, but only found this with no solution:

Did you allow calibre.exe in your firewall

Sorry for the late reply, but my firewall is off, I'm not running any anti-virus software, and the email isn't in my spam folder.

Appreciate the help so far, but anything else?

This is appears to be a MAC (proxy) networking issue.

Why would the email be in SPAM?
It can't SEND via the network (connection). Do you have more than 1 active (wired AND WiFi) at the same time??

The spam comment was in response to kovidgoyal's link.
No I'm only connected to wi-fi.

Trust me I searched google before creating an entire account just to post this question.

@alextasd according to that debug log you have not followed the instructions in the link I posted. You are using a direct email connection, not connecting via gmail. So I suggest you read it once again, and follow it, this time a little more carefully.
