iTunes 12.4 - where's the "Convert" option gone to?
I've just upgraded my copy of iTunes to 12.4 and the right-click "Convert to MP3" option has disappeared. Does anyone know how to convert music to MP3 in this new version of iTunes?
Thanks, |

Found it
![]() To answer my own question, you now have to select the tracks, then go to "File / Create New Version / Create MP3 Version". Not nearly as convenient as having it on the right-click menu. |

heh. I've always converted to a .wav file and then used LAME to convert to MP3. I didn't realize iTunes make a straight conversion.
I learned something new today. ![]() |

It's an extremely useful facility.
I have a DAB digital radio which can record onto an SD card in MPEG2 format. I record a lot of the BBC's audio drama this way, import the ".mp2" file into iTunes, and I can then just click on it and convert it to MP3. The built-in conversion can handle most common formats: WAV, MP2, AAC, and probably more, too. It converts to MP3 using the same conversion option that have been set for CD imports. |

To answer your question from the other thread, they changed a quite few things that just made things seem to work better. For example, in unplayed podcast, it's ordered by date and when the podcast is played, it's not listed under unplayed podcast any more. Seems obvious, but it didn't use to do that. There are a lot of little subtle things like that. The music page layout changed quite a bit as has the audiobook layout.
