CBR Conversion Questions
I have a CBR, roughly 280 images and 355MB, that I want to convert to ePub. I want the output to display well on a Nexus 6P (1440x2560), and to be under 100MB.
All of the conversions I've attempted result in the output images being too small, requiring me to zoom in on the device resulting in poor resolution image. Either that or the output is around 500MB. Any tips? |

Why not just use a comic reader app? There are plenty for android. Challenger Viewer for example is very good, free and without ads. To make it smaller, you have to unpack the cbr and then bulk convert the images with for example IrfanView. Then zip them as a cbz.

Because I would prefer to be able to use Google Play Books to manage my entire collection, rather than using separate apps for different files.
The CBR contains around 280 JPGs. What would I convert them to before re-zipping as CBZ? |

Just resize them, I would say. You could try out different jpg compressions too, but text gets blurry fast. Where your level of tolerance is, you have to find out. Making the images smaller makes them worse, so you have to see how small you can make them and still enjoy them.
I found comic reader apps much more comfortable than reading them as epubs and easier to browse in them too. If you want to manage all your readings through one app, maybe try calibre companion as a hub or try moonreader, which can read cbz/cbr, epubs and pdfs. If you still want to convert them to epub, calibre offers quite a lot of conversion options. Try to enter a custom image size etc. Have you set output device to generic tablet? |

I think I may just use Challenger Viewer. I've tried a bunch of different conversion methods and can't get what I want.
Challenger Viewer seems pretty good. Thank you for the recommendation. |
