Hello all,
I am looking for the best way to manage some content I have, any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently bought a Kindle Voyage. I also have an iPad and iPhone that I load the Kindle app on. I converted all of my books I had in iBooks from ePub to .Mobi. I loaded them all directly onto my Voyage using Calibre, but I also read on my iDevices. The pain is the setup I have now has me needing to look for my place if I close my spot on one device, and look to read it on another. When I originally tried first attempting to load them through the cloud, my books showed up in 2 different spots on my Kindle. Some were "Amazon Books" the ones I purchased through Amazon, then the ones I loaded on which showed as documents. I couldn't display all books in one section. If I used the send to Kindle and move all of these converted books to the cloud, and then push them to my 3 devices, am I able to download them directly on to the devices, can I get them to display in just 1 section on each device, and would they all keep in synch? I am also assuming if it works like I am hoping it could, that I should delete the content currently on my Voyage? Thank you for any help. |

Yes, if you email them to your Send-to-Kindle email address, they can be directly downloaded on ANY registered Kindle device or app. And the notes/highlights/bookmarks/last read page will sync just like with purchased books.
However, the price you will pay is that they will show up as Personal Documents, which on some Kindles will be segregated in the Documnts section instead of in the Books section. |

I don't know about the Fire range, but on all (AFAIK, at least!) eInk Kindles, if you set the library selector to "All Items" you'll see both books and personal documents with no segregation between them.

It is indeed the tablet software that poses the issue, from what I remember.

The iOS app behaves like eInk Kindles: selecting "All Items" shows you everything.

Certainly it's not the poor relation in other ways: the iOS apps are. (They still can't render any CSS at all, for example: it appears that the various mobi and azw3 renderers have not been touched since the days of the Kindle 3...)

You can't sideload KF8 content to the iOS app, but if you load books in "dual Mobi" format to Amazon's cloud, you will get the KF8 version downloaded to the app (and of course you also get it if you buy books from Amazon).

There is no all. And on the older fires, the memory is divided into so much for apps and the rest for everything else. Not sure about the newer ones. |

Ah. That probably explains the presentation differences I was observing in the ebook I was helping prep for sale. Oh good, it might not be buggered up after all. (Weird: it just ignores the KF8 pat if a dual-mobi file from kindlegen is sideloaded, or someting?)

The most common reason for books not to appear is indexing issues. |

The Kindle Previewer tool can create a format called ".azk" which can be sideloaded to the iOS apps and which supports KF8 features. It's specifically for the purpose you describe: testing books during development.
