Kobo Ereader not showing books

I have entered several books from my PC (Windows 10) and they do not show up on my Kobo Ereader. They do show on the PC.

What format are the books? How did you transfer the books (Explorer, Calibre, Kobo Desktop, ???). Where did you put them? (hopefully not a folder that starts with a .)

The books are in epub format. I put them in the kobo from my PC tree. They are not in a folder or an SD card.
