How fast is Amazon Kindle 3G in the SF Bay Area?

I am considering paying extra 70 dollars for Kindle Oasis with 3G option since sometimes I need to access Wikipedia articles while on the road. But I would only pay that much if the 3G speed is fast.

So, how fast is Kindle with 3G from your experience? Can you quickly and almost instantly access any Wikipedia article with your device while on 3G?

Depends on the Processor speed in the Oasis. Since its Not been in any ones hands Who Knows at this point.

The Oasis processor speed is probably the same as Voyage and PW3, or they would have included that as a selling point.

In any case, it is slower than a good WiFi connection in my experience (but that is with a slower Paperwhite 1gen). Obviously another variable is the quality of the 3G connection, which can vary considerably within a coverage area. It's going to be 'good enough' most of the time, but any smartphone will be faster.

I download books to my Voyage over 3G here in North Carolina without any trouble. Usually takes a minute at most, usually less. It depends how large the files are. Mine are usually pretty small — no photos, no 1,000 page tomes etc. I do like having the 3G although it is a luxury.
