Puncture
The other half managed to puncture and scratch the screen of the old Touch I bought used. It looks like a smear on the screen. Will it just stay a dot like a couple of bad pixels, or smear larger? He says he will use it that way.
I can replace it, but he sniffs around new electronics like a dog with a strange toy. A VCR/DVD recorder sat for 3 years until the old one crapped out. A Roku sat for 2 years until I decided I wanted my baseball. He had no idea what the Roku was. He has an EE degree, has messed with some programming as a project manager, but has no interest in learning how to work some of the newer tech. I'm surprised he took to the Kindle. He didn't like the original Nook. He discovered the ease of buying books on Amazon, and since he is finally reading, I can't complain. To replace, I'd need a Kindle the same size as the Touch 4 since I just got him a leather case he likes. |

It may or may not spread - only time will tell. It depends if it's just a burst capsule in the eInk screen, or if the actual screen substrate has been fractured. If it's the latter then, like a crack in a car windscreen, it could spread with time.
