Steps to pass on old Kindle to someone else

Hi,

I recently bought myself a new one so my girlfriend was going to take my old one. I've de-registered it from my Amazon account but it seems the content (Amazon purchased and sideloaded) is all still on it. Are there defined steps I should take before I pass it on? If I wipe all the content and want to sideload some content for her should I make sure she registers it to herself before doing that?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is it jailbroke?
If no, then do a factory reset. That will clean off all your stuff. Or if there aren't too many, just delete from device.
Then sideload back what you want.
Give to your girlfriend.
She can register it if she wants too.
No, her registering will not do a thing to the sideloads.

Or simply (deregister and) delete the "documents" folder when your Kindle is plugged into a computer.
