Question if you please

I have a Kobo Aura. I have gotten free epubs from Kobo. sometimes as a bonus for purchasing others books from them at the time, or because of promotions through sites such as BookBub. At the time of downloads, these books were marked 'DRM2 Free". Tthe downloads were direct to my reader, not my PC.

My question is this: Is there a way to transfer these books to my PC so I can share them with other family members.

Please note: I am not trying to crack DRM as these are suppose to be DRM free. I have looked at my reader when it is connected to my PC and see that the books are not in standard epub format, or at least are not named as such.

If it is not possible, it is not possible. But I figured I could at least ask.

Any and all help is appreciated.

TIA

Gene

You can log in on the Kobo site and download the files from your library. The copies that are downloaded to your ereader directly from Kobo's site have what looks like a UUID instead of a human readable file name. The copies that download from your library will also have odd filenames but renaming them is easy enough -- importing them into Calibre will do so about 95% of the time -- the other 5 percent come up with odd ebook names which will need manual cleanup.

Quick step by step guide:

Go to store.kobobooks.com or www.kobo.com or www.kobobooks.com -- your choice.

Click on the Sign In link above the shopping cart

Enter your signin information (same as you used to create your Kobo account for your ereader)

Click on My Account and select My Library

When you locate a book you want to download, click on the 3 dots at the end of the line and select Export file.

You might also want to click on the Return to your old Library link to use the old web interface -- I prefer it to get my books sorted by date purchased.
