Odd display in code view.
Calibre 2.53 (64 Bit)
Windows 8.1 AMD 64 This is a code fragment from a book I am editing: Code:

One of the most remarkable election events that has taken place in Liverpool was that in which Messrs. Ewart and Denison were engaged in 1830. Remarkable not only for the vigour with which it was carried on, but for the intense i.e. the 18 of 1830 does not display. If I move the cursor to just before the 3 of 1830 the status line shows "DIGIT EIGHT" , move left and it shows "DIGIT ONE" however neither of these are displayed in the code view window. The positions of the invisible digits are Line 26 char 73 and 73 followed immediately by the 30 at chars 74 and 75 (char 72 is a "SPACE" character). If I make the editor window maximised so as to use the full screen width the 1830 is visible in code view, though initially just widening the code view window (my first thought) didn't change anything. A bit of experimentation does suggest that this depends on the width of the code view window as closing the file browser window or the preview window did render the 18 visible. All rather odd - invisible characters are bad news in code view, you might just delete something important. BobC |

Thanks for the explanation.
BTW I looked at your Github bug report and it seemed to refer to it happening after non-breaking spaces; in my example the space is a normal one, not non-breaking, so perhaps the scope of your bug report needs widening. The main point from a Calibre perspective is that it's not something you can fix. BobC |
