Edit Metainformation
Again, I would like to propose some minor changes/additions to Calibre.
Referring to the popup Menu „Edit Meta information, Basic Metadata – Change Cover“: 1. „Generate Cover“ leads to a random selection of covers - fine; preferably, there should be an additional function allowing to choose a uniform colour or cover style. Choosing uniform colour the style will be randomly appointed, choosing uniform style the colour will be randomly appointed. This because with said Menu always multiple books are edited. 2. The function “Set from ebook file(s)” should appear with brackets omitted because said Menu applies only to multiple books. 3. I do not understand the function “Clone covers”. To me, it makes no sense to hide multiple books behind a single cover style with a single title (except one is working in a high security library). Maybe this function should clone the cover style only, but leave the individual titles and so would be an addition to proposal 1. Greetings, SandFish |

@SandFish - I assume your referring to this dialogue
1. I can't answer this definitively, but I would guess the covers would be generated according to the current setting in Generate Cover customisation, viz : 3. I would assume the Clone covers is there because someone asked for it. Some users have multiple instances of the same book (different editions, languages, translators, illustrators etc) - they might like to have all instances use the same cover. BR |

Thanks for the fast response!
Generate Cover Customization works individually, but not in bulk. SF |

Quote:
Providing that is checked and you click OK then the new default settings you saved will be applied in bulk edit - you might want to create a 'dummy' book (there's an option in Add Books) as a place to the customisation; Added : if you want the Generate Cover Customisation dialogue to be available from within Bulk Metadata Edit, you could post a formal request here ==>> Bugs : calibre BR Last edited by BetterRed; 03-13-2016 at 04:20 PM. |
