Like nails on a chalkboard
I just received an email from Penguin Books that made me shudder slightly.
The email title was "Books that hadn’t existed, until now". What was wrong with "New books for March" or "Newly published books" ![]() It's worse than finding misused apostrophes and not what I expect from such a well-known publishing house. |

I like the title. It's quirky, and that's nice to see from a big company.

Wouldn't "Books that couldn't be purchased, until now" be more accurate, though?

I like my 'Faulkner Description' much better:
"It (the book, the anthology) had not yet arrived, could not be purchased during that time (this month, this March); yet, having said that (or written it, rather), it (again: the book, the anthology) will be much celebrated, if not lampooned for being released (for having been released; about to be released; the as-yet-not-now-released) in a not-being anthology comprised of a scintilating and languid prose style that encompass (surrounds, envelops, harbors) a new beginning for writers (artists, hacks, authors) in this much-heralded, but not yet released book which is now available for the discerning few." |
