Problem modify ePub index

I have a new ePub. I put into my iPad. But index isn't perfect, now I delete my ePub, I modify index with calibre and I put into my iPad.
But my iPad don't see my new index (modify with calibre) but the old index (before my new modify)... why?
iPad remember old ePub? I have close iBook, reset my iPad, clean cache with another program (syncios) but never...iPad see old index on my new ePub!

Hello larysa,

A few things to check:

When you say "index" are you referring to the "Table of Contents"?

After you changed the index, did you open the new ePub to make sure it had the changes you wanted?

Did you use iTunes to delete the old ePub?

Did you check the "iTunes Media\Books" folder on your computer to make sure that the old ePub was deleted before you added the new ePub?

Yes, index referring file toc
I delete my ePub directly from iPad (select and delete)
And yes, I modify index (toc file), closed and reopening with calibre, see new index and them import to my iPad...but iPad use your memory for old index and not see new index!
With another prog, I go on file system of my iPad, I go into ebook folder, delete file toc of my ebook interest but after open my book on iPad and him see always old index!!

Many ePub books have two TOCs: one in a .ncx file, and another in a .html file. Did you change both TOCs?

If it is an ePub3 book then it might even have three TOCs: a NCX TOC, a HTML TOC and a NAV TOC.

Please don't say iPad instead of the app you are using to view your ePub. You cannot use iPad as a generic term for whatever the app you are using. What app is it you are trying to use? It would help to know.

Load your ePub into Calibre's eBook editor and run a check on it to see what's wrong.

Thanks GEOffR! I solved my problem! But you don't specified where is link toc-html!
After many many attempts, one stupid line on file content.opf
<reference type="toc" title="Table of Contents - TOC" href="Text/part0038.xhtml"/>
point to part0038.xhtml (this file contain index of my ebook)
deleted this reference all work correctly !!

Thanks to all for your support! Bye
