kindle touch upgrade causes browser problem
Hi
My kindle touch has just upgraded to 5.3.7.3
Firstly it's overwritten the jailbreak, which for me basically means the collections plugin is broke and no book cover in sleep.

WORSE, when I browse my calibre2opds library online to get my newspapers, although i can download files dropbox gives a big error 404 in the background of the screen.

I know it's not dropbox because i have library backups on googledocs and altavista, all now giving unable to get a file type messages.

This only happened after this update.

Anyone come across it or knows the cure. I cleared cookies etc.

Moved to the dev subforum

  • Your jailbreak was not overridden.
  • As usual when getting a firmware update, you MUST reinstall all hacks (since the update overwrote them).
    Reinstall the screensavers hack.
  • How were you managing collections? If you were using Collections Manager rather than LibrarianSync, you should be aware that CM needs adapters for each firmware version it handles -- so make sure to grab the latest version of CM.
  • The jailbreak doesn't touch the default browser, and I have no idea why or how Amazon may have messed it up, although on general principle I use @baf's skipstone build instead.

thanks for that info. It's been age's since I did it all. I'll have to dig out my Zip files with the hacks in.
I am if I remember correctly using the collections manager and the calibre plugin.
I haven't used it in ages as I am currently slowly working through the books I have which are all in categories from the original sorting...
