Full Screen or regular Window mode.

In regular Window mode, they appear normal (I use small in the Main calibre GUI)

Have you reviewed the various settings available (Gear Icon IN the viewer)?
(Note: I did not see an Icon Specific setting, like the main program)

The setting gear is also very small and so is the area where it says the output format like epub etc.

Output Format?

What are you looking at?
e-book viewer is accessed by the V hotkey
or
by using the View Icon (magnifier)

If those icons are small: Preferences: Look and Feel: Icon size:Large

if that is too small, change your graphics card/monitor DPI setting to something more traditional
I run my 21" monitors at 1920x1080 with item size set to 100%

Thanks theducks but setting the display resolution to 1920*1080 puts everything else in a spin. by using the view icon which essentially opens the book the lhs side bar where the icon are placed is very small Also the icons in book editing individually all icons on rhs of page like format, comments top line meant for changing font color etc those are super small.tried making icon large in look and feel ;nothing happened.

That tells me that something is very wrong on your system (assuming your monitor supports that setting). BTW You do need to resize/move windows when you lower screen size.

I run programs from many eras of Windows . They all view fine, even though they may have been designed when a 1024x768 monitor was the norm.

The Editor has its own configuration. Edit: Preferences
The Icons are a bit smaller (they seem to be the same size as set in the main GUI ('small'), probably because you are going to need some screen space for a goodly portion of the book you want to edit

Correct, i.e., they are same size as Library Manager Look and Feel->Icon size = 'small', but they're bigger than the button icons in the book editor.

@pinky62 - have you tweaked any of the Windows Display Settings (including those in the so-called Advanced area). If so, I suggest you set them back to the Recommended settings and see what effect they have on the calibre viewer.

And perhaps you could post a screen shot of the viewer as you see it.

Screen shots are big, so don't use the PASTE mode.
Use the attach a file mode.
Save your Image to a file (jpg is a good type)

Sorry, I use the Advanced editor mode so I do not know if there is a shortcut;
In advanced Editor Mode:
The paperclip Icon: (first slot) browse to the saved file : (repeat as needed for additional slots): Click upload
Do note the chart of File size limits, by type
click 'Close the Window"
finish your message and POST (or all will be gone)

Yow! Those 4 icons are the only ones on that form that look odd (small)

That is the Edit Metadata window.
Not to be confused with the Editor or (book)Viewer

You really need to use the correct names (or steps you used to get there) to keep us from heading down the wrong path

A TEST to see if this tracks the various forms

Preferences: Behavior: Edit metadata (single): all on one tab

I see no different between user interface style using system default or calibre style, or user interface layout between wide or narrow.
