Screensaver hack help

I got 2 grayscale images, both at 600x800, put them in linkss/screensaver, and it doesn't work
I don't know why this is happening, but I did notice that there is a linkss folder in the extensions folder, as well as one in the root. I put the photos in the root/linkss, as that was the one with a screensaver folder.

Everything else(cover & overlay) in the hack work fine

Define "doesn't work". What do you see when the device goes to sleep?

A few shot in the dark:
Switching to/from cover mode requires a framework restart.
The images *have* to be PNG8.

I see the Amazon defaults, probably from the backup folder. The photos are PNGs, but what is a PNG8?

I have also restarted.

Too bad MR does not have an e-mail-in Image Magic bot.
Mail-in your image (and device model) -
Get by return mail the correct(ed) image.

No reading of directions or anything else that might be troublesome to the user.

Reading instructions is so yesterday....

@ OP : seriously, are you pulling our leg ? almost each and every one of the thread you opened were questions you can answer yourself by reading the existing threads on the subjects. We might be helpful people (at least knc1 and NiLuJe are) and some of us have the patience of angels, but could you 1. read the threads (there is a specific thread on the screensaver hack) 2. post your questions, if they remains (

), in said threads so that the answer will help subsequent members ?

The hack even renamed the files, I don't know why it doesn't work.

@TheFattie: Those look mostly okay. Not 256c, and an extra alpha channel, but close. Not quite sure it's close enough to make the framework happy, but I've seen worse.

So, again, same question: what currently happens when the device is asleep?
Define "the Amazon defaults", because that definitely sounds more and more like you have a Special Offers device...

I don't have one, I just get pictures of pens, pencils, letters and whatnot. Just for more info, I don't think you can even buy a Special Offers device in India

@TheFattie: Then something is definitely going amiss.

Scrap the linkss folder manually, reinstall the hack, and make sure you don't boot with the device plugged in to a computer. Don't try to put your own images until you can confirm that the default 'welcome' image from the hack works as intended.
