A couple of questions
Using the Glo HD now for a couple of months and really impressed so far
However I've a couple of questions First, the table of contents does not show page numbers, something that the Sony did. Is this normal for all Kobos Secondly I manage my books via calibre but for books bought via Kobo calibre does not show them as on the device. It's their a way round this Thanks ![]() |

1) yes, I'm not sure if it's always been the case, but ever since I have used my H2O the ToC has lacked page numbers. I know they disappeared from my old Nook awhile before I retired it in favor of the H2O.
2) Instead of downloading the Kobo purchases to your device, try downloading them from the kobo website and using Calibre to load them on. The downside is that they will be treated as sideloaded books and unless you convert them are going to be .epub instead of .kepub which really only matters if you like using the reading stats. Just remove all downloaded ebooks from your Kobo, and then sideload. I'd wager the reason a website downloaded ebook loaded into Calibre isn't triggering as 'on device' in Calibre when compared to a device downloaded one is because the files don't match. |

Ok I see. For point 2 I did wonder if this was the only option but rather hoped for something else.
Thanks for confirming |

If you sync the books to your device AND download a copy from the website to add to Calibre, then as long as they have the same title and author, the ones that are on the device will match the copy in Calibre.
The books on the device will not be treated as sideloaded books, i.e. they will still be KePubs even though the copy in Calibre is an ePub, and they will still sync etc., but you will be able to use Calibre to change the covers and other metadata in the same way as you can for sideloaded books. I do this for all my synced KePub books, it is very useful to be able to correct the metadata, add series information, etc. (Edit: by using the Kobo Utilities plugin.) You can also just create a dummy book in Calibre, i.e. create a book entry without adding any format, and use that to match the book on the device instead of downloading an actual copy of the book.
