From Dropbox to Kindle; Online Platform

Hi,

I am totally new to Calibre. My objective is to send my ebooks from Dropbox directly to my Kindle app. May I ask you if it can be done? Also, I use Chromebook, can I work with Calibre through online only, without downloading any software? I don't see any login on Calibre's website.

Thanks!

Nope. Calibre is an application for Windows, Mac and Linux, there is no cloud (or ChromeOS) version.

Two Three things.
  1. Welcome to MobileRead!
  2. This is the Patricia Clark Memorial Library subforum, meant for getting help with the ins and outs of uploading books to said library. I think you wanted to post in the calibre subforum. (Not to worry, I've messaged the moderators and they should quickly move the thread to the right place.)
  3. Try BookDrop: http://www.teleread.com/amazon/bookd...lly-supported/

Noted. Awaiting thread migration. Sorry!

Also, bookdrop did not work out for me. Can Calibre email directly to Kindle? Any MB LIMITS? I have huge files (Medical textbooks)?

Thanks!

calibre has no size limits, but e.g. Gmail has a 25 MB limit for attachments.

calibre can directly email to your Kindle (actually, it uses your email account as a relay, once you enter your username+password in the settings). But as AnemicOak said, there is no Chromebook version.
Although... you can use Crouton to install a Ubuntu chroot alongside ChomeOS, that will allow you to run native software rather than limiting yourself to cloud-based stuff. calibre would then work.

calibre-server must run on a supported computer, and will create a personal website served from that computer, which you can download books from via the browser.
Useful if you have another computer besides the Chromebook, and wanted to read books on your Chromebook (or download from the builtin browser on your Kindle)... but not really helpful in your case.

...

In what way did Bookdrop not work out for you?

...

Do note that you can always email things yourself, without involving Dropbox, although that may not be as convenient depending on your workflow.

Moved OUT of our Library sub-forum and into......yep......the calibre forum.

I know that you've switched from talking about Dropbox to a focus on calibre, but I wanted to answer the original question fully just in case anyone else asks.

When it comes to connecting Dropbox to your Kindle account ...

There's IFTTT:

And Wappwolf might also work:

I try to send large textbook files. Book drop is not delivering it to my Kindle. I think because the file is too large. Does Calibre have limits?

Just tried Wappwolf. It did not send my textbook to Kindle.
