Error with version 2.50
Hi:
Yesterday I download the last version and now, when I try to start the program...


calibre, version 2.50.0

It is somewhere in the new USB device detection code which was rewritten almost from scratch.
There was a beta announced, but clearly not enough people tried it because no one caught this. (Most people never run betas.)

What version of Windows do you have?

Vista (some? all?) is missing that function. The workaround is in source and will be part of an upcoming v2.51.0 (next Friday's release).
Possibly a bugfix release v2.50.1 will get released today -- hopefully, since it crashes calibre on a supported platform?

Windows 10 won't run on my machine. I can't afford a new computer at this time as I'm on a fixed income.

Are you one of those running Vista? If so it is worth pointing out that Windows 10 is normally less demanding of hardware than Vista. I would expect any PC capable of running Vista to be capable of running Windows 10 with better performance.
