Exercising the Iliad

I just purchased my reader and am still waiting for it to arrive. Maybe the question I am about to ask has been asked in a thousand different ways but possibly not as one topic. There are a thousand topics regarding a problem with Mobipocket or recognizing pdf files or the card, etc. I understand I need to setup network connectivity and tell it what card I am using. After the initial setup, rather than discovering things by accident days later, are there a set of steps worth following to determine the health of the device? If you go through these set of steps and the reader responds as expected then one can say it should perform as expected. Or is it not worth the time?

For every post that you see complaining about something not working, there are probably lots and lots of people who never have any problems. The people most likely to post online are the ones that have a problem. Because of that, you see a much higher percentage of issues than exist in reality.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you find that something doesn't seem right. Chances are that your iLiad will be fine.

If it makes you feel better, mine has not had any trouble with any of the Mobipocket or PDF files I've read on it. Networking works fine, and I can read/write to an SD/MMC card without any trouble.

One advice:

Be very careful with the display. It's very fragile.

Thou don't put pressure on it or let the device fall to the ground.

My litte backback experience (with the iliad and some books) costed me around 275 Euro.
