Roll back K4PC version?
Is there a way to roll back to a previous version of Kindle for PC?
Mine auto-updated, and now the option to view only archived content is gone. I can see "all content" or "downloaded", but neither of that does what I want, which is: Isolate the non-downloaded content so I can download it to my PC. My Touch died, and I want the content on my computer until the Touch can be replaced. Is there a way to roll back, or to show only non-local content? |

The current version of Kindle for PC is 1.14.0. According to this page at Amazon versions as old as 1.11.0 are still supported. So it should hopefully it just be a matter of installing a version between 1.11.0 and 1.13.1 (the version prior to 1.14.0). It is a good idea to save the installation file for all software that you are using in case you need to re-install. If you haven't done this then you can still find the installer for version 1.13.1 here. Someone else may be able to help if you require an even older version.
PS: Make sure you turn off the option to automatically update to the latest version or you will be right back where you started. ETA: In the latest Kindle for PC if you switch to list mode (three lines icon) you will see that the already downloaded books have a clearly visible check mark at the far right. But you can't sort on that. Last edited by jhowell; 01-24-2016 at 05:36 PM. |

As a general rule of thumb, if you know the version number you can download any Kindle for PC release.
http://kindleforpc.amazon.com/43019/KindleForPC-installer-1.14.43019.exe The major version (currently 1.14) and unique build (currently 43019) just need to be plugged into the right place(s). Amazon doesn't usually bother to pull the old versions. EDIT: You can also find an incomplete history of past versions in the Winetricks revision history. Chocolatey unfortunately is having issues with their moderation queue and has only 3 versions listed, also they are not up to date at all. Last edited by eschwartz; 01-24-2016 at 07:26 PM. |

Thank you both!
I successfully installed version 1.13.1, and made very sure it's set to ask for permission before running the update. Regrettably, I need an even older version than that. I am almost positive I was on 1.11 (yes, it's been a while), but I don't know what build number to plug into the URL. Is there a way to find that out from my PC, or somewhere else? |

Try http://kindleforpc.amazon.com/40666/KindleForPC-installer.exe
It looks like at one point their download scheme didn't include the version number in the URL, so that is version 1.11.2.40666 (I discovered this by trawling the revision history for Winetricks. And it turned out that I was the one who memorialized that version. ![]() (But it's also one of the versions listed on Chocolatey.) Last edited by eschwartz; 01-24-2016 at 08:27 PM. |

![]() Thank you so much! It will be immeasurably quicker and easier to download my archived/cloud books now that I can sort and display only them. ![]() And thank you jhowell as well, especially for that PS in your post, which prevented me from going in evil circles with this, which would have driven me crazy. ![]() |
