Arabic TOC
Hello Guys,
I want the toc in my ebook shown right-aligend, so for using it for arabic language(they read und write from right to left). I tried the classic dir="rtl" but this only change the sentence on my pages and has no influence for the toc. Has anyone an idea? Greetings & thx for your help |

Have you tried "text-align:right" in your css for the effected TOC sections?

Are we talking about an html toc or an ncx toc? I would assume the page-progression-direction="rtl" would affect (x)html in the spine, but I've no idea what reading systems might do with the ncx. I admit, this is not something I have any practical experience with. I would also suspect that rtl support is likely to vary wildly from reading system to reading system.

And in addition, the question does have no relationship to Sigil.

@Brotdose: As DiapDealer has already pointed out, the rendering of an .ncx based TOC, depends on the reading system and very few of them handle other RTL features correctly.
If you create an ePub3 book you could theoretically style the nav xhtml file (the epub3 equivalent of the ncx file), however, since even the official IDPF Readium ePub3 reference app ignores styles in nav xhtml files this is pretty much pointless. BTW, you can download an ePub2-compatible Arabic ePub3 test file from MR. tl;dr: You can't style the TOC entries show in the Table of Contents window in Sigil. You could theoretically style an ePub3 TOC, but most reading apps will ignore the styles. |

Thanks, Doitsu. I knew you had some experience/knowledge in this area. I was just making educated guesses.
