NY Times author information
When Calibre delivers the New York Times to my Kindle, it omits the information about the writer that appears at the bottom of each contributed op-ed article. For instance, the article that appears online at http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/19/op...an-change.html contains the following when I view the source:
<footer class="story-footer story-content"> <div class="story-meta"> <div class="story-notes"> <p>Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir is the foreign minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.</p> </div> </div><!-- close story-meta --> </footer> This is pretty important information! What change do I need to make to the NYTimes recipe to make it include this in the Kindle version? Thanks much, Dan |

There will likely be a remove_tags rule that is matching that block, Look for footer int he recipe.

Thanks, Kovid. Under remove_tags, I see lines containing articleFooter, story-footer-links, page-footer, footer promos clearfix, footer links clearfix, footer, and page-footer.
I plan to comment these out one by one and see what happens. Please let me know if I've misunderstood! Dan |

No luck. I've commented out the following lines Under "remove_tags = [" in my NYTimes recipe:
#'articleFooter', #'rfd', 'story-footer-links', 'page-footer', #'metaFootnote', #'post-tools', #'footer promos clearfix', #'footer links clearfix', #'footer', #'page-footer', And still the author bio does not appear. For example, in the article at http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/23/op...t-hackers.html, the following text shows in the source, but does not appear on the Kindle: <div class="story-meta"> <div class="story-notes"> <p><a href="https://inmoscowsshadows.wordpress.com/about/">Mark Galeotti</a> is a professor at the New York University School of Professional Studies’ Center for Global Affairs.</p> </div> I'm stumped! Any other ideas how I might get this important information to show? Thanks, Dan |
