iOS eBook Readers w/ folder-like browsing capability?
It seems like this is surprisingly rare (not in Gerty or Kindle) and/or implemented very poorly (for example, Marvin, which buries it in a menu, which is not conducive to browsing).
So far, the only really usable reader that I've found is ShuBook. Is there anything else that I should be looking at? Marvin, Gerty, and a number of others just don't seem to offer this. After seven years, Tomes/Bookshelf appears to finally have disappeared entirely from the App Store after getting abandoned long before then, so I've been forced to actually do something. It's no longer even available for re-download. Historically, I've periodically looked around, bought a few apps and then decided that it wasn't worth the effort to modernize the parts of my library that don't have any metadata. And if there is anything that can do an actual browse by folders and retain an existing directory tree (the killer feature of Tomes), I would *love* to know... |

Also, for all twelve of you (if that) who still have Tomes eBooks in the modified Plucker format, I submitted a bug report to the Calibre guys and they fixed it for the upcoming release so that it will actually be able to read them.

As far as I know, Shubook is the only one. I'm still using Stanza but I think Shubook will have to be its replacement when finally it falls apart. I bought the SE version and I do not like the updated Shubook 2M.
[Edit] Totally forgot about Megareader. It started well but spent more time on internal styling, rather than paying attention to in book styling. It can organise by Author though (which is my preference). Its disappointing in other areas and seems not to have been updated for a long time Last edited by kyteflyer; 10-01-2015 at 02:36 AM. |

Yeah... Bought MegaReader to take a look at it... It was just updated for ios9 compatibility, but that didn't include compatibility with the new screen sizes. Not to mention that the interface is a total ick fest in the first place.
![]() ShuBook 2M doesn't bother me and seems to be under active development, so I guess that's my horse. Last edited by nrubenstein; 10-01-2015 at 09:32 AM. |

By the way, the background image of its library can also be changed. Interesting use of Parallax effect. |

I read on the iPad but the phone is my main thing so I'm not going to be reading on any app which can't be synced with the phone. I'll read books on the phone independently of the iPad, but if I do *any* reading on iPad... I'll expect to be able to continue on the phone. Hence iBooks or google play. The latter is my choice for syncability. Bookmaster doesnt do it.
