Is my Kindle Voyage screen broken

Hi,

My Kindle Voyage started to act weard. It powers on (front light comes on) an then reboots. I had it jaibroken and have attached the serial output.

I think its the screen or the controller. To you know if there is a software solution to fix this?

There are lines on that screen but what it means I don't know. Maybe the Kindle development thread might have more to say.

The screen isn't physically broken. But something isn't happy in the firmware/hardware. I think Josieb1's right that you should probably be asking in the development sub-forum.

That looks like the screen controller is having a problem. I suggest calling Amazon about this. The screen itself is fine.

But since it's jailbroken, you might do better to wait for answers from the development people here, first .....

All Voyages are still under warranty, so I'd talk to Kindle CS about it.

I don't have a Voyage, but on an older model (K3), I had a similar issue, some glitches on the screen. I found there is a file in /var partition which was cause of the issue. It was called something usid. I might be able to find it for you if interested. I had a backup, so I replaced it and all good.

Note that because it was in /var/local, I could just delete everything or factory reset and that file would be again created, so no issue in doing either.

Your best shot is to seek assistance from Amazon.

Two months too late.
My only excuse is that this question never reached the dev forum.

Read the start-up log posted again -
It is the on-board voltage regular chip which has died -
Return the KV for replacement.
