Congrats for this wonderful tool, Calibre. I'm a librarian and I work for a few months with archive management and I have a (little) question : which differences between tags and series (series can be a part of tags ?) Many thanks Anne

That question deserves its own thread.
The people who are looking at this thread are the people who want to wish Kovid happy holidays -- not necessarily the help mavens.

Series is series. You *could* put series in the tags, the same way you could put author in the tags. But that seems rather redundant, when you have a dedicated metadata slot for a very specific (and standard) type of metadata.

Series is special as it has 2 parts {series} and {Series_Index} (shows as series [index] ) and is numerically sortable within the series, there is also a hook to Similar... (p/o the context menu)


The downside (if there is one) is the index is mandatory and Numeric. 0 is a valid index. decimals are allowed (5.67)

OTOH
every different tag is unique and isolated
