Anyone tried Updating Metadata on VMware/Vbox Shared Folder?

Hello!

Has anyone tried updating your library metadata on a VMware/Vbox Shared Folder?

I would like to see if i can use calibre as a shared folder in a Windows virtual machine, the Host machine will have no internet connection, but the Windows virtual machine will have internet connection, i would like to update the library metadata inside the guest machine.

I will be using the portable version of Calibre and attached the Calibre Portable folder as a Shared Folder in VMware as a Drive L: (library)

I tried running the portable version and was able to run Calibre but was hesitant in doing any changes to it (download metadata, rename books) because i have no way to backup the library.

Anyone tried this? any encountered problems? please advice. Thank you in advance!

calibre does not support networked drives, due to shortcomings in the NAS protocols and general flakiness of such things.

but a VM shared folder should be fine, I believe.
