New Glo Hd User- Battery Concerns
I received my Kobo Glo HD this past Thursday (the 17th) and I love it- but I'm wondering if my battery life is normal? I fully charged it when I got it, and it also did some charging while I transfered books from Calibre the next day. The battery was 94% on Friday night. I've only done about 6 hours total of reading (although my stats say 3.4, but I know I've done more). The reading light was on each time that I read, but only at about 4%. I have it set to power off after 30 minutes of disuse and I keep the wifi off. The battery is already at 55%. I really haven't spent much time doing anything on the kobo other then reading. I'm sure the light has a big impact on battery life, but I wanted to check just in case.
Also, I've heard that it's possible to change the number of page turns between screen refresh on the original glos (beyond 6 pages). Is that possible to do on HD's? If so, can anyone tell me how to do it? Thanks! One more thing I'd like to ask about (sorry!): When I connect my kobo to calibre it says that calibre is unfamilier with the latest firmware of my device and my collections are disabled. Has anyone else heard of this? Anything I can do about it? I'd love to manage collections through calibre! I have the latest updates for both of these. Last edited by jmw; 12-20-2015 at 03:00 PM. |

I just confirmed my current version of calibre and it turns out that the last update wasn't properly installed. Disregard my questions about Calibre in my original post. Sorry about that!

That would be way shorter than normal life, but I'd give a a recharge or two to see if the battery gets itself calibrated and lasts longer. The light (even at a fairly high level) actually uses very little battery, so turning it low or off won't really increase battery life much if at all. If you're looking to change the page refresh to more than 6 just to increase battery life, that may help, but it's very marginally more (relatively speaking) to have it every page if that's what you'd prefer. If you want to extend it because you don't like the flash, you can either patch the software or I believe you can still just add a line in the config file that will do it for you. Someone more familiar with that will no doubt be along shortly and help you with those details.

Thank you for your help robko. The battery seems to be a little better after another charge. I just have bad luck with devices and battery life!
