So has anyone here got the update yet. I have been checking my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7(2012) every few minutes to see if I have got the update yet.

I doubt it will get there for you for at least a week probably more like a few, the way Google stages it's firmware rollouts is very unpredictable and they only give it to some devices at a time I've always forgotten about it by the time I actually get it on my Nexus 7.

Good to see that it introduces notifications on the lock screen, and as scrolling banners across the top of other apps. That's a very useful feature that iOS has had for a long time.

To make it up for all the features android had but not iOS

OTA aren't there yet. No factory images either.

Just a warning for anybody in the UK that uses either the Sky Go or Sky Movies applications to watch Sky channels on their tablet. Sky are warning that these apps won't work well, if at all, with Lollipop yet (although they're working on it)

Sometime in the next several weeks (really hard to judge) it will tell you there is s a system update ready to be installed at that point the best thing to do is put your device on a charger let it get up to a full charge just to be safe and then accept the update.

It will then reboot and start installing the update usually about 20 minutes or so later and after a few reboots you will be on Lolipop.

I'm more interested in the permissions being implemented to allow apps to read/write to folders not "owned" by the app.

I like my new shiny things not getting an update plus no exact release date from google is a bit annoying. Any way was able to get some of the new google apps with material design from http://www.apkmirror.com/
Really like the looks of google maps with material design.

Do you get the update if you're rooted? There hasn't been an update since I rooted mine, so I'm not sure.

I don't think you get updates if you are rooted in some devices you so but you loose root and have to root again. Once the update is out you can find and flash the update from xda.

Ah - that sounds extremely useful! Should make apps that can use external SD cards (like CC) a lot more usable again.
