Apple releases iOS 9.2 and a lot of other updates
Apple has released iOS 9.2 with mostly bug fixes. They also released tvOS 9.1, watchOS 2.1, and El Capitan Mac OS X 10.11.2. Mostly bug fixes I think.

Since installing 9.2 on my iphone 6+ I have had problems when connecting it, via usb, to my 2012 Honda CRV factory radio. When I connect it now it automatically starts Pandora and starts playing music. It used to start my music collection.
When I start a podcast it runs but the display remains the Pandora logo. Very annoying. I deleted Pandora, I seldom used it, and my iphone is back to normal showing the podcast logo of the podcast I am playing. It also changed "News" notifications to banner. I have notifications shut off for everything and will now have to check all my apps, etc. to make sure they are still set up the way I prefer. |

I agree, Pandora and/or the Honda's software is likely the culprit. Easy to deal with Pandora but not the Honda...they don't provide software/firmware updates.
I've thought about replacing the radio but yipes is it expensive if I want to keep the steering wheel controls, back up camera, etc. I may just have to deal with it until I decide to replace the CRV but generally I keep my vehicles for nearly 10 years...I'll be 70 by then and probably won't care that much lol. |

I had two 80's model Belairs back in the 90's...biggest pieces of junk I ever owned...always fixing something that was breaking down...not as bad as the AMC Hornet I once owned but pretty close.
Nothing to do with Apples latest iOS update though LOL. I do very much miss the ability to install a very nice stereo system in the older cars...Today's cars integrate everything through the factory system making it difficult and very expensive to put in a good system. I hate being forced by the manufacturer to live with crappy factory systems, which cost far more than they are worth, or spending a bundle on connectors to keep controls and systems that have nothing or little to do with the audio system plus having to spend a lot on a "face" to replace the crazy fascia the factories insist on shoving down our throats...sigh...rant over...back to you... |

While this might be slightly off topic, so many newer cars these days have integration with iThingies and Google thingies that it should be discussed when appropriate.
Just traded in my 2012 Toyota Prius C for a 2015 Toyota RAV4. Both had built-in radio systems that are supposed to work with iPhones/iPads. Both do, but marginally. The interfaces are terrible and clunky, but then they are designed by car manufacturers and not Apple. The Prius C did get an update and it was easy to install, but it didn't help much. The RAV4 will likely get them, but I'm not holding my breath that it will be much improvement. I too wish they simply used the iOS style of interface rather than the convoluted crap Toyota programmed into them. I suspect cars that have integration with iThingies will be the last things to get updated whenever iOS is updated. Car manufacturers are extremely slow to make updates to anything, and when they do those updates are likely to be difficult to install. They prefer to make you come to the dealership and pay them to do it. But search on the internet and you will likely find the update files and instructions to do it yourself. That is how I updated my Prius C entertainment/navigation system. |

I've had a few oddball things happen to the factory system in my '12 Honda CRV LX since the past two ios updates.
Now when playing a podcast, via cable connect and ipod mode, the stop feature on the podcast on the iphone screen does not work...if I stop the podcast it stops for a second then starts to play again. I have to shut off the system using the "audio" button on the factory system. When I have Bluetooth enabled on the iphone it dominates the connection even when using the cable and the ipod mode...the signal via bluetooth is weaker for the volume on the radio and I'm using a JL Audio mini amp with very good JL Audio coaxial front speakers...my favorite brand...If I try to use the ipod connect the bluetooth takes over so generally I have bluetooth shut off which also improves/increases the overall volume. I also can't access my playlists and podcasts via the factory system using the ipod but can when using bluetooth...what a pain in the ass. This is the CRV's software problem not the iphone or the ios. I have an awesome system in my Accord EX...Alpine head, Memphis Audio amp, JL Audio speakers...all our iphones connect perfectly and I can access playlists and podcasts, etc. but the head unit does not have bluetooth...older model...but that is not really a big deal. If I had realized how big a problem the factory system was going to be I may not have bought the CRV but it runs awesome and is super in the snow giving us greater access to our favorite trails for snow shoeing that I did not dare get to in our Accord LOL...I've gone back and forth on replacing the head unit for an Alpine with a nice 7" screen but I don't want to lose the settings controls and I don't want to spend an extra few hundred dollars just to get them back...sigh...my wife gave me the go ahead to do whatever I want as she has even complained a time or two...I just don't want to drop over a grand on the system. I wish Honda would give us a firmware update to at least get us out of the stone age. Otherwise I've not noticed much difference since I've done the latest update...my iphone 6+ seems to work the same as before but I hope Pandora issues an update so it will play nice with my iphone and CRV so I can reinstall it...I do like using it from time to time. Thanks for listening/reading hehehe... |

The symbiosis between car media units and media devices is probably one of the largest in the world...imo.
The mobile phone/auto media device connection is also a source of problems and great consternation...the mobile phone software is always on the change and being updated constantly while the auto's software/firmware seldom changes and often those that are creating the device's software/firmware don't seem to be the brightest bulbs on the tree. Features are left out, dumbed down, etc. I realize the difficulty considering the two main methods...iphone and Android devices...use very different programs but considering the cost of the vehicle's "radio" compared to an after market device and you'd think they spend a bit of time getting it right and adding updating flexibility...OR at least making the factory device as a stand alone system rather than having all controls, steering wheel controls for the audio system, back up camera, vehicle's settings controls, etc. all tied in through the audio system. If we want to change the factory system for an after market system besides the cost of the system itself we now have to spend hundreds of dollars on extra connection hardware to work around all this nonsense. It's a real pain in the ass for those of us that prefer a better quality system than the manufacturer provides never mind the fact that the factory unit often does not play nice with the mobile device... Honda doesn't "manufacture" their own media systems, they farm it out companies that do though they provide the specs and features information they want built into the device...Like they all do...but some work better than others. |

j has the right of it. My Honda CRV does the same when in Bluetooth mode...it generally works adequately.
Apple's "Car Play" seems to be quite the system and I like to get an opportunity to play with it when connected to my iphone. |
