Protecting calibre settings against computer failure

Hello. I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find it. I have my various books in their various formats backed up, so if my computer were to suddenly die, disappear, be stolen, etc I will be able to retrieve them. However, is there any way to protect my settings for them in calibre? They are all sorted nicely into various series and tags, and I would hate to have to recreate that for all of my books. Thanks for your help.

Debbie

Short answer: back up your Calibre library folder(s), INCLUDING metadata.db. This will back up all the columns in your library, including custom columns.

What this won't protect is some of the settings in the Calibre program itself. For that, you'll also need to back up your configuration folder.

You might also consider using Calibre Portable, even if you have no intention of putting it on a portable drive. Back up all your settings, including your libraries and books, just by backing up your Calibre Portable folder (and all subfolders).
