Adding eBook to calibre from phone?

Is it possible to add to your calibre library from your phone? I've been searching for days for an answer and nothing even touches upon it. I hardly ever use my laptop and don't want to take it out every time I find a good book.

Thank you!

Yes (and it is easy )

Connect using the Wireless device connection.

In Calibre, switch from Library View to device view (the spinner needs to have stopped to see the books on your device)

Click on the column header In Library

The ones without ticks are those of interest
Select those: Right click: Copy to Library

@theducks, if i understand the OP correctly, the question is about doing the work from the phone itself.

The answer to which is, not without using an SSH connection, and/or some way to copy files to the computer.

Thank you both. It's true I was looking for a solution only using my phone. But I'll accept a compromise I can stock pile my ebooks that way and only have to break out the laptop once a week. Thanks again!

I think calibre v3.0 is slated to have server-based write access.

At least, it was always one of those "one day when I rewrite the content server" things, and @Kovid is currently... rewriting the content server!

So if you are willing to wait ~few months, you might just get what you are asking for, for free.

Personally, my books start on the computer and make their way to my devices.

If you use dropbox (or some other cloud storage) to save your Calibre library, then you never need to have your computer involved again. Just do a Connect to cloud.

I believe the question being asked is the easiest way to get a book you recently downloaded to your phone into your calibre library. I don't see any cloud provider currently being the solution to this question.

Ooops, sorry.

My system is to add it to a specific folder on my phone. I have dropsync automatically upload it to my computer. Every now and then I check that folder and add all the books in it to Calibre.

I wish Calibre had an option to automatically add books from a certain folder, but it doesn't.

Yeah, I know. It's terrible.

And then they lie to you and say there is an auto-add option in Preferences ==> Adding books ==> Automatic Adding (tab), only there isn't.

Well to be fair, I asked about this a couple of years ago, so maybe they added it since then.

In any case. Thanks.

How do you define a couple of years ago?

Someone else asked about it in January of 2012, but they asked on the bugtracker. (Yes, really, if you have a feature you'd like, file a formal request.)

You're welcome.

I don't remember. It was a very long time ago.

Still, very happy to have it.

So there is a good chance that you wanted it first.
You should've filed a request -- the feature would have landed sooner, you'd know about it sooner, and most importantly you'd've gotten the credit for suggesting it!
