All ebooks of an author in one folder
Hi guys: it's me again. I want to copy all my ebooks from my PC to my tablet, I mean, my Calibre library complete, but I found a little issue. Calibre create a folder for each author, and inside, a folder for each book, isn't it? That's a lot of folders. I would like a folder for each author and inside it only the ebooks by this author of course, no OPF file or covers files, only epub files.
I created a rutine in asp to do it BUT the name of some folders and/or epub files some times have special characters so my poor rutine stop many times. It's possible that Calibre save or export the complete library, using only one folder for each author and inside it all the ebooks by this author? I hope I explained it right this time. Thanks for your help and time. Regards from Lima Perú, and of course, happy xmas |

Save to disk (this is NOT FOR THE Library folder)
set the template to {authors}\{title}-{authors} the authors (or author_sort) before the slash makes a folder of that name |

If your tablet is an Android product, then I highly recommend Calibre Companion. This is like having Calibre on your tablet. You directly import your Calibre library to your tablet. See this post to learn about it.
www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=264. This will do everything that you wish. You can sort on tags, authors, genres, etc. You will have to have an reading apt. I use Moon Reader Pro. Hope this helps for some ideas. Ron Last edited by rwmcafee; 12-05-2015 at 02:43 PM. |

Thanks for the answers!!!
Let's see. rwmcafee the app you recommended me looks great but it's not free, and for now I have some problems to buy thins in google play. But look's great!!!! I also use Moon Reader. theducks I'm not sure to understand you. I set the template as you recomended, however, I do not know how to use it well. I select a group of books and clic the button "save to disk" or S but only save also epub, jpg and opf files in one folder. Perhaps I don't explained well before. Calibre save all the books by this way: Author 1 --- book name 1 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file --- book name 2 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file --- book name 2 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file Author 2 --- book name 1 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file --- book name 2 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file --- book name 2 ------ cover.jpg ------ epub file ------ opf file So, I want to export all my calibre library using this order: Author 1 --- epub file 1 --- epub file 2 --- epub file 3 Author 2 --- epub file 1 --- epub file 2 --- epub file 3 --- book Author 3 --- epub file 1 --- epub file 2 I hope I can explain well now. Sorry my grammar Regards from Lima, Perú |

You can choose what files get exported in "Preferences".

You CAN NOT change the structure of the library (what you show appears to be the Library except that it is always book name (id#) ) If you are using Save to Disk to EXPORT Preferences: Saving to Disk: <see image> |

Finally I could do it!
theducks the template I needed was {author_sort}/{title} - {authors} and uncheck "save cover separately" and "save metadata in separate OPF file" just HarryT suggested The only "but" i found is that, by example, "The Lost City" by Farmer, Philip J. & Lint, Charles de, Calibre save it in a separate folder, I mean: Farmer, Philip J. & Lint, Charles de --- The Lost City.epub and I thought it would do something like Farmer, Philip J. --- The Lost City.epub Lint, Charles de --- The Lost City.epub but for now it's well for me.... thanks again to all regards from Lima, Perú blessings and merry xmas |
